Preparation of sautéed beef strips with portobello mushrooms

Step by step recipe of sautéed beef strips with portobello mushrooms

  1. We start with the three cloves of garlic, we are going to peel them and then cut them into slices.
  2. We also cut half an onion into strips, the same with a piece of bell bell pepper.
  3. Once this is done, we are going to cook the red bell pepper and the onion in a very hot pan with a little bit of oil. Let them cook over low heat until they are soft.
  4. We are going to add a handful of meat cut in strips. I used loin ball but you can use whatever you want. Pork loin, square, beefsteak, whatever you have. Add it to the pan and turn up the heat.
  5. Now add the seasoning. I used salt, pepper, oregano and meat seasoning. Mix everything so that it cooks evenly.
  6. Then we slice four portobello mushrooms and add them to the sauté. Mix everything so that it integrates.
  7. Add a good splash of white wine to enhance the flavors and let the alcohol evaporate.
  8. Cover for five minutes and when the portobellos are ready, it is ready to eat.

This sautéed meat is very tasty, you can serve it with whatever you want. Potatoes, rice, mashed potatoes, tortilla, it goes with everything, it’s fantastic!

Tips for this preparation

The sautéed beef strips with portobello mushrooms can be eaten in different ways. You can combine them with a side dish (mashed potatoes are great) as well as use them as a filling or eat them inside corn tortillas.

One of my favorite ways is to prepare them as a sandwich with a strip of bread. We simply open the bread in half, I usually add a slice of cooked ham and on top of it the sauté we prepared in this recipe. A plus is to dip the bread in the juice that remains in the pan and thus achieve a much more intense flavor in the sandwich.

Another way to enjoy this preparation is by adding french fries. For this we will cut potatoes in cubes of approximately 1cm x 1cm and we will fry them in hot oil for a few minutes until they are cooked. At this point we remove them and drain them on absorbent paper. Then add them to the frying pan with the meat and the other ingredients when there are only 2 or 3 minutes left to finish cooking.

This way the potatoes will incorporate a little bit of flavor, but they will not get too wet, keeping the typical crunchiness of frying.
