The recipe for homemade beef hamburger is something that we must have in our kitchen repertoire. Nowadays it is essential to know how to prepare -at least- a basic beef hamburger. Then everyone is free to continue to deepen the recipes to find the preparation that most pleases them.

Today I am going to show you a quick recipe for homemade hamburgers that I have been using for a long time.

This preparation is ideal to eat in sandwiches or on a plate, for all tastes.

Ingredients to prepare simple hamburgers

  • 500gr of minced meat
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1 tomato
  • Salt and pepper
  • Oregano, meat seasoning
  • Bread
  • Cheese
  • Seasonings of your choice

Step by step homemade hamburger recipe

  1. We start by chopping half a red onion into julienne strips and cut a tomato into thin slices.
  2. We take minced meat and add salt, pepper, oregano and seasoning for meat. Mix it all with your hand and form balls the size of the palm of your hand.
  3. We flatten the meat balls and we have our hamburger ready.
  4. We take the bread we like, cut two slices and toast them in a toaster (or turn and turn in a frying pan or in the oven).
  5. In a very hot frying pan we put to cook the hamburger with a drizzle of oil. Cover and let it cook for a few minutes.
  6. When the edges are cooked, turn it over and add cheese and oregano. Cover the pan and wait for the cheese to melt.
  7. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 1 minute.
  8. Assembling the homemade hamburger in sandwiches

Once all the steps are ready, it is time to assemble. Take the buns out of the toaster and put the toppings of your choice on them (I put mustard). Then we put the hamburger and on top of it goes the red onion and tomato slices and we close the sandwich with the other slice of bread.

Remember that the hamburger can also be made with pork (or a mixture of both) which combines very well with the arugula. 10 points!

What to complement a good burger with?

Whenever I prepare any kind of sandwich, this question always comes up: What is the right and necessary for the sandwich? In this case we are talking about meat burgers, what is the best thing to accompany them with? And I’m not even talking about garnishes, but rather within the sandwich itself.

To solve this question I like to think about the main ingredient of the burgers and see what pairs well in flavor. In this case the burger is beef, so I chose to use tomato and red onion, which combine very well.

In other occasions that I have prepared pork burgers I have chosen to accompany them with arugula, blue cheese and caramelized onions, all ingredients that we know combine very well with the flavor of pork.

For this reason, I personally prefer to choose a good combination of flavors with few ingredients and not make a super sandwich with a thousand things that then you feel the flavors all mixed together and nothing stands out or combines with the rest. Here the concept of “less is more” applies perfectly and will allow us to enjoy more the flavors of what we are cooking.
