3 (2)

In this recipe I am going to show you how to make baked pork tenderloin with apples. Fruity flavors, such as apple, combine perfectly with pork. In addition, honey, ginger, garlic, lemon, cinnamon, thyme and sage are excellent flavors to accompany pork.

Pork tenderloin is a very lean cut, with almost no fat and a very rich taste. It is equivalent to the tenderloin in beef.

There are several techniques to prepare pork tenderloin, today we are going to cook it in the oven.

A characteristic of this type of meat is that the right cooking point is passed very quickly. That is to say that we have to be controlling the times well or the meat will be overcooked and it will be very dry.

In case of doubt you can always make a small cut to control the cooking point and in case it is still raw, let it cook for a few more minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 pork tenderloin
  • 2 green apples
  • 1/4 glass of white wine
  • Salt, pepper, thyme
  • Aluminum foil
  • Optional: an onion

How to cook pork tenderloin in the oven

  1. We start with two green apples, we are going to cut them into wedges. They can be in four or eight parts, as you are more comfortable depending on the size of the apple. I cut them in four.
  2. We reserve them on a plate.
  3. On the other hand, I have a pork tenderloin from which we are going to take the thinnest part and fold it inwards. This way we have a sirloin that is completely even in size and shape.
  4. Add a little salt to the pork tenderloin and now we go to an oven dish. Add the pork tenderloin and on the sides add the pieces of green apple. If you want you can also add a sliced onion, it is up to your taste.
  5. Season with a few grains of freshly ground black pepper and a little thyme.
  6. Add about a quarter glass of white wine. If you do not want to add wine, you can use vegetable stock.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in a high oven for about 40 minutes. It may take a few minutes more or a few minutes less depending on the power of your oven and the size of the sirloin.
  8. After 40 minutes, this is ready to eat. Just right.

I served the pork tenderloin with apples along with some baked potatoes. You can also serve it with a salad or whatever you like.

I recommend that you add a little bit of the leftover white wine on top of the pork tenderloin. This will give it a very special taste.

Pairing of the baked pork tenderloin

A rosé wine is recommended to pair with baked pork tenderloin with apples. Soft and light rosé wines, such as Rioja, combine best with this meat. Red or white wines are also acceptable, in the end it always depends on the taste of each diner.
